Schedule IV of TM Classifications amended, three more classes introduced
In a recent development, the Indian Trademarks office has notified amendment of the schedule IV of the Indian Trademarks Rules 2002 containing specifications. This amendment has resulted in the addition of three new classes to the old schedule which originally contained 42 classes. The newly introduced classes 43, 44 & 45 are actually a division of the original class 42 which was broad in nature.
Pursuant to this amendment, the specifications of goods /services or rather it would be appropriate to say specification of services under the classes 42, 43, 44 & 45 would be as follows:
Class 42. Scientific and technological services and research and design relating thereto; industrial analysis and research services; design and development of computer hardware and software.
Class 43. Services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation.
Class 44. Medical services, veterinary services, hygienic and beauty care for human beings or animals; agriculture, horticulture and forestry services.
Class 45. Legal services; security services for the protection of property and individuals; personal and social services rendered by others to meet the needs of individuals.
